CATEGORIES AND BUFFER ZONES

CATEGORY                         1                   2                   3                  4                  5

HANDICAP:                      0-11           12-17           18-23         24-29        30-36

BUFFER ZONE:           (17-18)       (16-18)        (15-18)       (14-18)     (13-18)

REDUCTION:                   – .1                – .2                – .3                – .4            – .5

HOW THE HANDICAP SYSTEM WORKS

SCORE WITHIN THE BUFFER ZONE        NO CHANGE TO HANDICAP
SCORE BELOW BUFFER ZONE                  HANDICAP INCREASED BY 0.1
SCORE ABOVE BUFFER ZONE                   FOR EACH POINT SCORED ABOVE 18, YOUR HANDICAP IS CHANGED BY RELEVANT REDUCTION FOR YOUR CATEGORY.

E.G. A player in Category 2   (12-17) scores 20 points, therefore, 2 points  x -.2 =  – .40                         reduction to handicap.                                                                                                                                        KEY POINTS

  1.  Handicaps will fall into five categories for the purpose of handicap adjustments.  Please check the category you fall into in the above table.
  2.  A player’s handicap may be cut, increased or remain unchanged in relation to above table regardless of placing in a competition.
  3. Our existing 3 categories will remain unchanged for competitions and prizes.
  4.  N.B.  Winning is no longer directly linked to a handicap cut, but will be based on scores returned in relation to above table.
