GOLF HOLIDAY IN VILAMOURA

It’s almost three weeks since a group of our ladies representing the society returned from Vilamoura, Portugal. I still miss the chat and our nightly promenades down the marina in search of restaurants and dancing!

The weather was perfect for golf, relaxing on the beach or exploring Vilamoura and Quarteira. We played three challenging courses over the six days, Laguna, Pinhal and Millennium which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

My sincere thanks to all the ladies who were fantastic, a great support and gelled together from the get go at Dublin Airport.

Congratulations to Kathy Newell, who was the Overall winner over the three days with a fantastic score of 75.

I’m already looking forward to the next holiday.

On the 1st September  we celebrated a joint event – Lady President’s Day and the 20th Anniversary of Saturday Strollers.

The committee worked extremely hard and succeeded in making a perfect celebration of a very special occasion. Scorecards and refreshments in hand, a total of 73 ladies took to the fairways during the day to do battle for the magnificent array of prizes chosen and procured by Marie. These were presented on the night to the winners.                                             Golf over, a large number of members returned   to the Green Room  that evening where we enjoyed great company and lovely food. Past Captains turned out in their best ensembles and gifts were presented to them as a token of appreciation of their work over the years.

Congratulations to Marion Benville on winning the President’s Prize. Many thanks to all the past Captains, members and Pavilion members who took part in the day/night celebration.
