Glasson Away Night
Saturday 14th September was our away day to Glasson Country Hotel and Golf Club.
34 members took to the road on a lovely summers’s morning, if fact some even decided to go on Friday to be well rested for the golf . We were duly met by Fidelma who made us feel very welcome and made sure everything was in order. Lynn McCool, Director of Golf , organized the golf buggies and the result box and at 12.10 the first ladies were ready to go. . The sun shone for us all afternoon which was just perfect.. The course was tough even for the best of players but for others it was no bother, as there was some very high results. Some took buggies and unfortunately Dorothy Gray’s decided to break down around the 10th hole. An half an hour later she was back on course after Joe came to her rescue.
Before our Prosecco reception some ladies were following the Dublin/Kerry match and of course Dublin won!!
We had a lovely meal and lots of chat, followed by prize giving. Congratulations to all the prize winners. Karen Clinton won the “Birdie” prize but there again everyone scored a “Birdie”.
We resumed to the bar for more chat and drinks and it was very late when the last ladies returned to their rooms I believe!!!
Sunday morning we woke to rain and damp grey skies and remarked how luck we were with our weather.
My sincere thanks to my committee who were a great support and without them this would not have been such a successful event.
Looking forward to our next event.

President’s Day 31st August 2019
31st August was Thérese Brosnan’s “special day”, Lady President’s Day. We were so lucky with the weather and there were over 60 ladies who battled it out for the lovely array of prizes that Thérese had chosen. Everyone was trying to decide which prize they would love to win and it is Congratulations to Dympna Mc Cabe who won the beautiful President’s prize.
On behalf of our Lady President, Thérese, I would like to say a very big thank you to our Vice Captain, Paula and all the wonderful committee members who worked so hard to make this day a very special one for everyone. To Anne for collecting the money, (which is difficult when it is on the night). To Máire for preparing all the cards and also with Mary for getting those all important results done, with little time to get home and back again and looking gorgeous. To Deirdre for taking some lovely photos which I hope to put on the website soon. To Margaret for looking after the attendance sheet, to Eleanor for all the shopping (lots of visits to the wine shops I believe!!) and to Linda and Karin who do the results on the website for us each week.
Everyone enjoyed the lovely meal and it was a chance for members to chat and get to know some other members they probably did not play with before. I know a good time was had by all and Congratulations to all the winners.
On my behalf, “Thank you”, to you, our members for making it such a memorable day and night for our Lady President, Thérese
